"Jazzing Up The Polka Dot Blues"

        The idea for this painting came from several sources. First, I love to paint still life images that have great fabric backdrops. I have painted a few pictures that have really fun striped fabric folded all different directions so when I saw this beautiful blue fabric with big white polka dots…I just couldn’t resist! The complimentary color of blue is orange, so that was a natural choice to make the colors pop. I am not a big fan of the color orange, for whatever reason it just bugs me, so I decided that I needed to be less prejudiced and learn to like orange! As a result, I did a little series of paintings with a variety of fabrics and objects that would force me to paint with orange. I am proud to say that I am no longer prejudiced and quite like the color!
